Pay Cuts.
My employer has announced proposals that they want to cut our pay by 37%.
Most of the staff are long termers and its looks as though Industrial Action is our only option.

Anyone have similar experiences ?

Industrial action for a staunch Tory like you? Fuck me, the hypocrisy of it!

Re: Pay Cuts.
37% seems steep. I suppose you would just have to look at it from both sides really. Would you be able to get another job paying what you are being paid now? if the company dont make the cuts will it fold? better to have a job on 37% less pay then no job at all?

This is extreme though. 37% is a piss take.

The company will not fold, they made a 10 million pound profit on the Dover route this year.

Re: Pay Cuts.
as they are changing your terms and conditions if you dont agree to pay cut they have to offer you full redundancy pay

37% what a piss take

I don't suppose your bosses are taking a pay cut????????

Re: Pay Cuts.
The management are not affected and no redundancy offered as they have stated no jobs losses, just change of contract and duties.

"Customer Operations Agent"

What's that in plain English?

Re: Pay Cuts.
You sure you've not heard it wrong? Maybe the company need to reduce costs by 37% and part of that will be by cutting employees salaries? That number is ridiculous.

No mistakes at all. We all had the documents hand delivered to our homes.

"just change of contract and duties."

Am I right in thinking that your hourly rate is not going down by 37pc but rather your opportunity to work is being reduced?

Re: Pay Cuts.
23ad is right.

You've signed a contract agreeing to certain responsibilities, hours, salary etc.

If any of those factors are changing, you have to agree to it, either verbally, or by making them offer you a new contract and technically a new role.

So, in essence you can make them make you redundant, and take the payoff.

Re: Pay Cuts.
Doesn't sound right to me, 37% is way too drastic, even 10% is a lump?
